ORTHOMETRY.

It's safer being meek than fierce ; It's fitter being sane than mad.
My own hope is, a sin will pierce The thickest cloud earth ever stretched ;
That after Last returns the First, Though a wide compass round be fetched ;
That what began best can't prove worst, Nor what God blessed once, prove accurst.
R. Browning.
"Apparent Failure.
Alas ! I have nor hope, nor health,
Nor peace within, nor calm around, Nor that content, surpassing wealth,

Shelley.
(f). Stanzas of Ten Verses.
To each his sufferings; all are men
Condemned alike to groan, The tender for another's pain,
Th' unfeeling for his own. Yet ah ! why should they know their fate ? Since sorrow never comes too late,
And happiness too swiftly flies ; Thought would destroy their paradise.— No more ;—where ignorance is bliss
'Tis folly to be wise.
Gray. " On a Distant Prospect of F.ton College "
